Westminster & Chelsea Hospital Chiller Upgrade

We have recently completed a crane lift to replace the chiller unit at Westminster and Chelsea Hospital, London. The Mechanical Movements team efficiently managed the removal of 1 no redundant 8850kg chiller unit along with a large uprated acoustic housing, replacing it with 1 no new 7350kg chiller, lifted up 30m onto the building rooftop.

We started by fencing off a marshalled working zone to prevent unauthorised access. This required a road closure at the rear of the hospital site along Nightingale Place, with two-way traffic redirected along Netherton Grove.

Using an AC 300 95tonne mobile crane, with a 33m radius and 80mm box spreaders, the redundant items were lifted down to ground level and removed from the site by lorry. Then the new steel support and antivibration mounts were manoeuvred into position. Our experienced lifting specialists then carefully landed the new chiller into its final resting position on the roof.
