Fifth Chiller Replacement Successfully Completed at Slough Data Centre ❄️

Over the weekend, our team successfully completed the fifth chiller replacement at a data centre in Slough. This marks another key milestone in our ongoing project to replace a total of 20 chillers overall.

We were on-site early Saturday morning to kick off operations. Our first priority was implementing a comprehensive traffic management system to ensure the safety of both our crew and the public while maintaining smooth traffic flow around the site.

The initial task involved removing a redundant 18.7-tonne chiller and replacing it with a new 15-tonne unit. This complex operation was carried out over two days using a 300-tonne crane under a contract lift arrangement.

In addition, we supported the client by repositioning a previously delivered chiller. This involved re-lifting, rotating it 180 degrees, and precisely placing it onto AVs – an essential adjustment due to earlier misaligned pipework.

For this lift, we deployed a Liebherr 1300 crane, rigged with 96 tonnes of ballasts. This configuration allowed us to achieve a lift height of 12 metres and a radius of 32 metres.

A massive well done to the team for a seamless operation and another step forward in this extensive project. 👏
