Mechanical Installation at BUPA Luton
Last week, Mechanical Movements were at the Luton BUPA Hospital, completing a hefty movement and installation project involving various critical plant components, including 2 x 40ft chillers each weighing 9 tonnes, as well as 2 x AHUs each weighing 7 tonnes.
The two large chillers were lifted to the roof chiller enclosure, where the team marked out positions and proceeded to drill and fix anti-vibration mounts, before finally positioning them onto plinths.
After our expert team placed the chillers into their positions, they tackled the two AHUs, which were carefully lifted to the roof and placed onto a temporary scaffold deck (which had already previously been designed and installed) leading into the plant room.
In addition to the chillers and AHUs, Mechanical Movements also completed an installation of two Cristal Power Transformers, supplying the building with its mains supply. These each weighed 5 tonnes and were lifted and installed using the onsite tower cranes, due to them being lighter than the previous units.
Our entire project was completed over 3 days in total, using our 300-tonne Mobile Crane, Tower Cranes, Low-Loader Artic Lorries, Flatbed Artic Lorries, Rigged Lorries, as well as the use of Forklift Trucks, and bespoke lifting equipment.
A huge well-done to our specialist lifting and installation team for completing this large project with no complications. The client was happy with the result, and the project was completed with ease.
